Valentine’s Day propositions

Valentine’s Day propositions I have heard of

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, probably the most exciting day for some of us. who have been proposed to? How did it go? How were you approached? Did you go down on your knee?

Here are some special Valentine’s Day Proposals I’ve heard of:

The day trip proposal

This is probably one of the most romantic stories I’ve heard of from a marriage proposal.

She knew they were going away and leaving London for a day trip. What she didn’t know is that they would be staying over-night in a beautiful country cottage with a crackling fire and that by the time she sat next to the fire she had been proposed to already.

They drove all the way from London to Yorkshire. He brought her to Richard and Moira of Classic Car Hire North. This was where they left their car and took a beautiful Morgan for a few hours.

They drove together to the North York Moors, the wind blowing in her hair in the convertible Morgan, the weather was fine and she suspected nothing at all. They wandered a little in the national park and after a couple of hours they got back into the car and continued to Scarborough.

And that is when it all happened.

After a short walk on the beach, he laid the picnic and they relaxed from the day. He then took out a piece of paper from his pocket and read to her beautiful words that reflected his feelings for her and asked her to marry him.

Of course she agreed and after a few tears of excitement they stayed the night in that pre-booked cottage he hired.

The right spot proposal

Another romantic proposal I’ve heard of was done over a summer holiday in Paris. She thought they were going for a week holiday in Paris, which is a very nice thing of course. But when she got back to England she was wearing her engagement ring.

He took her to the restaurant they had been to on their first holiday to Paris. But no! That was not where he proposed to her; that would have been just too ordinary of a proposal story to tell you about!

Instead, after dinner they went for a walk on the Seine. Think about summer now, with the sun hanging in the sky until late, are you getting the feeling? After a while they sat down on one of the benches and there it was. He knelt down, it was only them, the evening sun and the Seine, and asked her to marry him.

The all in one proposal

Some of you may have seen before when the guy is proposing and marrying the girl at the same time. This of course demands rigorous planning in advance and a secure relationship where you are absolutely sure she is going to agree to marry you.

It worked for this guy.

If you are planning to propose this year and you need help with the ring we are only a phone call away.

What Is Mangagement Ring?

Mangagement ring- is the UK going to follow the growing trend?

If you’ve never heard about mangagement ring it is because it is a rather new trend. It is taking off really well in the USA but one of our FaceBook page’s followers, who lives in Australia, told us he also has one. It is such a new trend that when writing the word mangagement I get a red line under it to tell me I misspelled the word.

So what is mangagement ring?

Mangagement ring is an engagement ring for men. Confused? Let me break it down for you in a few optional scenarios.

Let’s say you have proposed. Up to now, the guy would propose to the girl-friend and would present her with an engagement ring. The engagement ring will symbolise the commitment he has for her and a promise to marry her in a time they will arrange. So your girlfriend is going to have an engagement ring on her finger but you will not be wearing any external symbol showing you are committed in any way to anyone up until the wedding day.

So? You are asking…

Well, women today have shifted a long way from being dependent solely on her male companion. Women now have the ability to earn money and support themselves. They see themselves as equal contributors to the household. If they are equal in contribution they sometimes feel the need to be equal in their status. Part of that is to want their fiancé to also wear a ring showing he is committed to her the same way she is committed to him. This is when the mangagement ring comes into the picture.

This ring will be a sign to any women who are in the bar for example not to mess about with the guy wearing the mangagement ring. The same way an engagement ring labes the women as ‘out of your reach, mate’.

Another scenario is gay couples. Since last year GLBT are celebrating gay marriage being legal in the UK. When two men who decide to share their life together have the ability to get married why not have the whole tradition and propose with a mangagement ring?

I was chatting with Gay Wedding Photographer GrrlAlex  at the recent National Gay Wedding Show and she asked me if diamond engagement rings for men were ever requested.   Although still a new phenomenon here in the UK, in America, the idea of a man-gagement (or mangagement) ring is increasingly popular – for both straight and gay couples. Luckily, one of our FaceBook followers was kind enough to permit us to use his image of his mangement ring. What do you think?

You can see that having a diamond ring doesn’t have to be a feminine ring and actually can look really good on a man.

Last but not least, although not very common, some girls are actually taking the lead and are proposing to their boyfriends. It cannot be complete wedding proposal without an engagement ring, or mangagement ring in this case.

What do you think about the mangagement ring? Will you buy one for your boyfriend?

If you are considering it and not sure where to start, help is only a phone call away.

Choosing an Engagement Ring

Choosing an engagement ring – when to start?

If you are considering proposing marriage and think all you need to do is buy an engagement ring and propose you might be surprised on the purchase day.

The engagement ring is the ring that not only will represent your love to your partner but will also be on her finger for many years to come. Choosing an engagement ring she will be happy with and you will be proud of should not be taken lightly. After all there is an expense involved and you don’t want to have any regrets about it.

Choosing an engagement ring is not just the act of browsing and seeing what is a nice ring in your eyes, or hers in many cases. Choosing an engagement ring is a process, just like your relationship, that involves getting to know not only the likes and dislikes you or your partner have, but also knowing a little more about the product you are buying, usually a diamond.

I have written in the past a lot about the different steps that need to be taken when choosing an engagement ring. The first thing I strongly recommend is to familiarise yourself with the world of diamonds. Just like when you go to buy a new television or any other new electronic device. So it is with a diamond; you must research. If you are already familiar with electronics or mobile phones you may only need to compare between models; in diamonds you might have to teach yourself first what is it you are buying. What makes one diamond better than the other? Why is one diamond more expensive than another even if they weigh the same? You can start by reading this useful and clear outline.

Assuming you have read the diamond guide you then need to think about the style of ring. Choosing an engagement ring in the right style for your loved one is not easy, even if she gets involved. I have seen couples who had done some research, coming to me with what they thought was a clear idea of what they wanted, and then changed their original plan altogether.

It is like anything else in life that is a high-value purchase and for the long term. You might not think as much when you plan your holiday, even though you might spend the same amount on it, as a holiday is an experience that will last for a couple of weeks. The ring will stay on the finger as a symbol and that can be a positive reminder that will sparkle with beauty or one that you’d wished you took more time to look into.

So, when do you need to start the process of choosing an engagement ring? It is very individual but in all honesty I would advise you to take your time. Like any important expenditure you will need time to process all the information you are gathering. Have a look at http://bit.ly/BlogAboutDiamondJewellery as you will find lots of helpful information that will aid you in the process of choosing an engagement ring, and one you will be proud of.

Valentine’s day ideas – Simple and Romantic

Top five Valentine’s Day ideas for you to surprise her

Some Valentine’s Day ideas we have been bombarded with on advertisements are turning the whole experience into something unromantic. Valentine’s Day is the official day people express their love, with many proposing marriage on that date. Whatever experience it is you want to create on February 14th make sure it is a memorable one for her.

Here are some Valentine’s Day ideas for you, not all tried and tested by me, however ones that I could relate to.

1) Relive your first date

One of the simplest , yet very sweet, Valentine’s Day ideas iS to relive a significant moment from your past. Remember the first date you had? That time when you were carefully selecting the clothes that will give the right impression, the place you met, the overall feeling? Why not get her to date you there again, share your feelings from the first date and reminisce on special times. It doesn’t have to be expensive to spark those feelings once again.

2) Get into a loving mood

Start your Valentine’s Day with an activity that will get your heart rate moving faster. Cycle by the beach or in the woods, or even go to the ice skating rink. Activity that is enjoyable will get the endorphins going and will leave you in a loving mood.

3) Body massage

I don’t know many people who’ll refuse a relaxing body massage. This can be done in your regular spa/gym or, you can invite a personal masseur to your home. Once both relaxed the evening will be promising.

4) In-house party

On the same style of a ‘staycation’, where you are being a tourist in your own city, why not try closing the world out of your house. Switch mobiles, emails and phones off and create a romantic time alone in your own home. Order in food and the rest is for you to enjoy each other’s company.

5) Spoil, spoil, spoil

Anyone likes to be a little spoiled at times and there is no better date than Valentine’s Day. Shower her with chocolates, good food either home cooked or in a restaurant. Don’t forget the dozen roses and the card where you can write to her how much you love her and appreciate all that she means to you.

If you are using any of those ideas, please come back on February 15th and tell us how it went in the comments below. And if you are planning to propose on that date, call 0845 600 5557 or click on the image below to schedule your free consultation with a diamond expert.
